Job Role : Accounts Clerk
GCB Cocoa UK is a new Chocolate and Cocoa processor based on the Essex/Suffolk border. We are currently seeking an Accounts Clerk to join our small on-site Finance team of two. In this role you will own the management and maintenance of the purchase ledger, ensuring all financial transactions are accurately recorded and processed in a timely manner.
Working Pattern:
Full time: 09.00 – 17.00, Monday – Friday (30 minute lunch break)
We are willing to consider part-time hours in this role.
We offer:
- Salary of £28,000
- Salary Sacrifice Pension Scheme: 5% Employee pension contributions are matched by 5% Employer pension contribution.
- 20 days annual leave (plus bank holidays), rising to 22 days after 2 years’ service, and 25 days after 5 years’ service.

Roles and Responsibilities:
- Invoice Processing: Logging, maintaining, and filing invoices.
- Payment Processing: Authorising and processing payments, including BACS payments.
- Supplier Management: Liaising with suppliers, reconciling supplier statements, and maintaining accurate vendor details.
- VAT Calculations: Calculating VAT payments on purchased items.
- Expense Management: Handling staff expenses and petty cash.
- Data Entry: Accurate entry of financial data into accounting software.
- Reporting: Compiling and producing financial reports for management.
- Compliance: Ensuring all transactions comply with company policies and relevant regulations.
Qualifications/Experience:
Essential:
- Accuracy and Attention to Detail: Essential for managing financial records.
- Numerical Skills: Strong ability to work with numbers.
- IT Skills: Proficient in use of Microsoft Office 365 applications, especially Excel. Experience in working with accounting software or ERP systems a plus – our Company ERP system is Dynamics 365.
- Communication Skills: Ability to liaise effectively with suppliers and internal teams.
- Organisational Skills: Efficiently manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Team Player: Ability to work collaboratively across teams.
- Willing and able to learn: Able to learn new systems and processes
Desirable:
- AAT Level 1 or equivalent experience in a similar role.
